juvenile dinosaur dig siteThe 2008 dig season, led by field paleontologist Bob Simon, yielded a big find in a relatively small package--85+% complete, plant-eating juvenile dinosaur.  Tentative ID is a young Apatosaurus (former name: Brontosaurus).

The 145+ million year old Jurassic dinosaur was discovered on private land in Big Horn County, WY and is about 25 feet long.  Bone quality is excellent, and jacketed bones are in safe storage awaiting preparation.

Positive ID should come with closer examination of the teeth and skull parts.  Preliminary reports indicate that the teeth do not appear to be Diplodocus or Camarasaurus.  Stay tuned for updates!

For more information, call Terry Pfister at 847.818.8911 or email us
