Product No.PGB103
Item:Camarasaurus Axis Vertebra RARE
Size:7" x 9" x approx. 5"
Description:This is a RARE specimen for the serious collector! An axis vertebra from the Jurassic Sauropod, Camarasaurus, this vertebra is the first neck vertebra, connecting the dinosaur's skull to the vertebrae that string to form the neck. It has been identified as an axis vertebra due to discovery location and shape - i.e. the triangular shape of the dorsal spine; the large bony knob on the face of the vertebra where the atlas and proatlas connect; instead of the larger front processes (prezygapophyses) typical of the interconnecting vertebrae that form the neck, there are small, bony knobs instead (no vertebra in front of it to connect to). We have never seen this type of bone available for private purchase before.
Cost $USD:$1,200.00
Additional Costs:Shipping and handling (includes insurance) and applicable sales tax determined at time of purchase.
Additional Info:While slightly compressed due to geological pressure over 145+ million years, this bone is in exceptional condition. Only cleaning and minor fracture filling was needed. Additional/close-up images are available upon request. Found on private WY ranch land, this specimen comes with a certificate of authenticity.
